Our History

Red River Software’s (RRS) story began in 1978, when two owners formed a partnership to develop software in Fargo, North Dakota. With agriculture abundant in the region, the partners set out to solve inventory tracking issues for sellers of farm equipment. As word spread about RRS, a local fuel oil dealer requested a program that would assist in tracking agricultural, commercial, and residential deliveries. In response, Red River Software developed what we know today as the RRS Fuel Package.

The continued growth of Red River Software included the addition of software packages for cooperatives in the 1980s, and convenience stores in the 1990s and early 2000s. In an effort to reduce customers’ upfront costs and required hardware, Red River Software became one of the first developers in the agriculture and fuel industries to move to The Cloud and offer a Software as a Service (SaaS) option.

After a series of acquisitions, Red River Software began expanding services to encompass point of sale and private card systems. With the addition of the Triple E Product line, Red River was able to offer a pump, to register, to back office solution.

After 40 years, Red River Software remains a nationally recognized provider of back office accounting software solutions for convenience stores, co-ops, fuel dealers, and petroleum marketers. The RRS team continues to help improve the accuracy and efficiency of businesses across the U.S. by providing a wide range of comprehensive, intuitive, and affordable software and hardware solutions, supported by unparalleled customer service.
