We are Red River Software, and for more than 40 years we have helped the people who run convenience stores, fuel operations, and cooperatives spend less time wrestling with paperwork and more time running their business. Our History: Solving Real Operator Problems Since 1978
Our story starts in 1978 in Fargo, North Dakota, with two partners, a farm-equipment inventory problem, and a good idea. Word got around, and before long a local fuel oil dealer asked whether we could build something to track his deliveries. We did. That request became the RRS Fuel Package, the foundation of the fuel delivery software.
Our name comes from the Red River that runs through Fargo, and it has been a steady part of who we are for more than four decades.
So when we refreshed our look recently, we did not reach for an abstract logo. Instead, we traced the actual curves of the Red River as it winds through our hometown. It is a direct callback to our roots, carried into everything we do next.
From there we grew right alongside our customers.
We expanded into cooperative software in the 1980s, then convenience store solutions through the 1990s and 2000s. We were an early adopter of cloud-based, Software-as-a-Service delivery to cut our customers’ costs and hardware headaches. A series of acquisitions expanded us into point of sale and proprietary card processing, and our Triple E product line tied it all together into a true end-to-end system: from the pump, to the register, to the back office.
More than 40 years later, we are still here, still independent, and still doing this our way.
That independence is a promise we take seriously: Red River Software will never be sold to our competitors. We intend to keep serving our customers on our own terms, the way we have since 1978.
